Chief Executive Officer (Former CEO of Nabi Biopharmaceuticals)
Tom McLain holds a B.A in Economics from the College of the Holy Cross, a MBA in Accounting/Information System from the University of Rochester, Simon Graduate School of Business, and is a certified public accountant in New York State.
Mr. McLain has over twenty years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and consumer products industries. Most recently he has served as a consultant to early stage biotechnology, medical device, and healthcare services companies. Prior to his consulting practice he was the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and President of Nabi Biopharmaceuticals, a biotechnology company that applies its knowledge of the human immune system to develop and market products that address serious medical conditions, including blood borne bacterial infections. The company also managed a network of plasma collection centers and a testing laboratory. Earlier in his career at Nabi, Mr. McLain served as the company’s Chief Financial Officer. From 1988 to 1998, Mr. McLain was employed by Bausch & Lomb, Inc., a global eye care company, where he held various senior management positions of increasing responsibility. Before joining Bausch & Lomb, Mr. McLain practiced with the accounting firm of Ernst & Young, LLP. Since 2004, Mr. McLain has served as a director of Eastman Chemical Company, where he is also a member of the audit, finance and health, safety and environment committees. He is the Chairman of BioFlorida, the statewide trade association for the bioscience industry, a role he has held since 2005. Mr. McLain has also served as a member of the board of BIO, the Biotechnology Industry Association, as well as several community and business development boards.
